What is new in WSJT-X version 2.3?

16 On November 2020, the version 2.3.0RC2 of the well-known program for digital communication types WSJT-X (author Joe Taylor, K1jt) was published. Issue 2.3.1 dated March 26, 2021

Issue 2.3.0 dated February 2 2021

Improvements in the decoder of a new digital mode for medium and long waves - FST4W:

Improvements in version 2.3.0 RC2 of November 16, 2020

This release of the program corrects errors found in version 2.3.0 RC1 and adds some new functionality, which was not included in 2.3.0 RC1 due to the time of publication of the version.

New in version 2.3.0 RC2:

  1. The "Passing Samples" window is removed when recording sound. Warning and sound errors are now written to the WSJT-X system log.
  2. FS4W spots on the WSprnet.org website will be supplemented so that the server can recognize the mode in which the spots are transmitted. Thus, spots on WSprnet.org are now not limited to sections of ranges for WSPR mode.
  3. The new internal system and program mechanism for recording magazines allows you to record information about messages such as tracing, debugging, information, warnings, errors and fatal errors. Details and filtering of messages is set by the user using a configuration file. Without a configuration file, an entry is made in a simple journal with information only with information messages, warnings and errors. The automatic rotation of the error log was implemented to restrict the use of disk space.

Improvements in version 2.3.0 RC1 dated September 28, 2020

Version 2.3.0 RC1 is an update to the Beta version, which offers two new digital modes specially designed for long and medium waves.

FST4 is a bilateral QSO, FST4W - this is a mode similar to WSPR programs (to study passing) ..
Both modes offer many points for the sequence of "transmission - reception" - the duration and threshold of the sensitivity of decoding, which descends below -40 dB. Preliminary tests show that these modes often exceed intercontinental distances in ranges of 2200 meters and 630 meters. Further details and tips on the communication procedure can be found in "Quick-Start Guide to FST4 and FST4W", located on the WSJT website.

Being a release of beta-quality, version 2.3.0 offers an update of the program with many new features, capabilities, and correction of defects:

  1. New FST4 and FST4W modes aimed at the ranges of long and medium waves.
  2. Improved detection of the noise boundary for a more accurate assessment of the signal-shum parameter.
  3. On the waterfall and a 2D spectrum when hovering a mouse, a floating message occurs indicating the frequency displacement, under the mouse cursor ..
  4. Based on the feedback from users, the method of compensation for the Doppler effect of "ON DX Echo" has been improved. The main functionality has not changed. See the user manual (chapter 8.1) for more detailed information.
  5. Improved algorithm "User_Appal", which serves to initialize the mode of changing the WSPR Band Hopping ranges.
  6. A decoded QSO message is made more compact (compressed) to make the added information more readable without the need to scroll the window.
  7. Added option for recording the radio wave distribution mode in the posts of the hardware magazine
  8. (The QSO magazine unloading file) satisfies the requirements of Adif 3.1.1.
  9. Implementation of the connection to PSK Reporter using TCP/IP for very bad Internet connections is implemented.

  23. Исправлена ошибка, которая позволяла отвечать сообщениями "не CQ" по протоколу UDP.
  24. Устранен давний дефект со временем начала передачи (TX)
  25. Исправлена ошибка с таблицами стилей во время переключения конфигураций.
  26. Устранен дефект когда выводилось окно с астрономическими данными, в которых инструменты для управления окном были недоступны, при использовании тёмной темы оформления.
  27. Исправлена регрессия предыдущей версии, когда производилась установка уровней мощности режима WSPR.
  28. Исправлена регрессия предыдущей версии, когда создавался заголовок у нового ADIF журнала.
  29. Много других дефектов исправлено.
