Solving the problem with the XAPP applet after the transition to Linux Mint 19.3 "Tracia"

16 March 2021 11:28

After the transition from 19.2 "tina" на 19.3 "Tracia", in the Linux window, an exclamation mark appeared. What is it connected with?

Description

The developers during the transition from 19.2 to 19.3 offer to replace the state panel with Xapp status applet, and expect actions from the user. Replacing this application occurs smoothly only surrounded by the XFCE desktop, I use LXQT.

If in the LXQT desktop, click the mouse along the “exclamation mark” icon in the status line, a window will be displayed in which there are actually no options for solving the problem. There is only an option to "ignore":

Solution for the desktop XFCE

  1. Completed the current session of LXQT "Start" - "get out" - "get out of the system"
  2. I chose the desktop XFCE
  3. I completed the entrance to the system.
  4. When clicking with a mouse, another window was displayed on an icon with an exclamation mark:
    XFCE window
  5. I pressed the button "Add the XAPP status panel to the panel" .
  6. In the window that opens to set up the elements of the status line:

    • chose an element XAPP Status String
      Adding xapp-staTus
    • pressed the "Add" button
    • pressed the "Close" button.

    The problem is solved.

LXQT desktop solution

As such, there is no solution, because In LXQT, applets written in the QT language are used, judging by the name.

Can be closed (with the right button mouse on the icon with an exclamation mark)
exit
Disconnect the warning at the next user session:

  1. Start

  2. Parameters

  3. LXQT settings
    LXQT session settings

  4. Session settings

  5. Autostart

  6. Turned off the report when starting the system
    report

A warning will be displayed that the settings will be used only at the next input of the user to the system.

** The problem is also solved. At the next entrance to the system [!] The icon [!]

If you need to start a system report using the terminal command:
mintreport

Other encirclement (mate, Cinnamon)

As in the case of LXQT, under any environment you can ignore the proposal for installing the XAPP applet.
