Today I was at the Putilov Church on Tuesday morning for 40 days from the day of my mother’s death. After the Liturgy, I heard a meaningful, important sermon from the priest.

Gospel of Luke, Chapter 11, verses 34-41

The lamp of the body is the eye; So, if your eye is clean, then your whole body will be bright; and if it is bad, then your body will be dark.

The reason for all crimes - robbery, murder, slander is -human heart. In my opinion, the heart in religion means the deepest aspiration personalities,conscience, good or evil will. For more details, see the article.The meaning of the heart in religion - Professor Boris Petrovich Vysheslavtsev

Vision provides food for the heart. (We receive 90% of information through vision - my comment). If you look at ugly objects, your heart is filled with a black substance (envy, anger, hatred, resentment, etc.).

So, look: is not the light that is in you darkness?
If your body is all light and does not have a single dark part, then everything will be as light as if a lamp illuminated you with radiance.

Consequence: if the heart is black, then the assessment of other people and events is obscured, distorted, becomes biased and inadequate.
It’s like black glass before my eyes. “For the pure, everything is pure; but for the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but their mind and conscience are defiled.” - Rom.14:1-17.

Then a continuation of the same topic - the Pharisee noticed that Jesus Christ lay down without performing the ritual of washing his hands.

While He was saying this, a certain Pharisee asked Him to have dinner with him. He came and lay down.
The Pharisee was surprised to see that He did not wash His hands before dinner.
But the Lord said to him:Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and the platter, but your insides are full of robbery and deceit.
Foolish! Didn't the same One who created the external also create the internal?

Pharisey - there is observance of rituals and hypocrisy.

Better give alms from what you have, then everything will be clean for you.

The solution is to do good deeds selflessly. This is how you can change internally.
