If you ask a Leningrader/Petersburger for the coordinates of the city, he will probably say 60 degrees north latitude, 30 degrees east longitude. Where is point 60N 30E actually located?

Many experts in St. Petersburg / Leningrad know that in the area of Bolshaya Morskaya Street at the intersection with Nevsky Prospekt there is a geographical line -Pulkovo meridian 30°19′34″ east of the Greenwich meridian, which intersects the General Staff Arch in the area of Palace Square.

As for the meridian 30.00000 degrees and the 60.00000 parallel, they pass close to the city. Where exactly?

By chance, while vacationing with my family in the village of Lisiy Nos on the Sea Oaks beach, I found myself near a point with coordinates 30.000E 60.000N, as evidenced by the GPS navigator in my smartphone.

Moving along the coast to the west-east changes the longitude 29.99999-30.00001, so you can accurately “catch” the meridian of 30° east longitude.

The latitude is worse - in the Lisiy Nos area it exceeds 60 degrees north latitude by 0.0034°.

The point itself with coordinates 60.00000N 30.00000E is located in the water, in the Gulf of Finland, south of Lisiy Nos beach.

Part of the beach, near longitude 30°, is located a little to the side and is not equipped. In fact, this part of the beach borders the private sector - villas and cottages.

A small stream flows nearby, over which a bridge was made many years ago. There are no benches in the shade of trees. There are no cafes or toilets nearby.

The eastern part of the Sea Oaks beach has been significantly redesigned, where a brand new embankment is white. However, there are rubble made of sharp stones between the beach and the sea, and heaps of earth remain.
The granite fragments are so sharp and unstable that climbing over them can break your legs.

However, swim here "prohibited"!

It is interesting that reviews on Yandex about the Sea Oaks beach in Lisiy Nos are usually positive (custom-made).

Not a word about granite fragments and concrete slabs, the smell of hydrogen sulfide and marshy silt near the water, the ankle-deep depth of the bay and the shortage of regular sand on the beach (which was washed out to sea by a storm).
