Priorat Park - Part 2

As is known from history, tsar Paul I built the Priorat Palace for the Knights of the Maltese Order. The protectorate over which, and the island of Malta, Paul I took on after the French Revolution (July 14, 1789 - November 9, 1799).

See Part 1 (beginning)

Tzar Pavel I at the request of the Maltese knights-monks, he assumed a protectorate over Malta January 4 1797 year - the “Convention, concluded with the Sovereign Order of the Maltese and its advantage by the Gros Master, was signed - about the establishment of this order in Russia”. Malt was supposed to strengthen Russia's influence on the Mediterranean Sea. The Maltese knights hoped to receive protection from France’s actions and financial assistance from the Russian Empire. So, the Maltese Order received subsidies from Russian nobles, which, according to the Convention, got the opportunity to join the Maltese Order.

Russia was supposed to create a marine base in Malta to speak against the Ottoman Empire and, possibly, England. Paul paid great attention to the fleet and in 1798 the emperor approved the development plan of the fleet, which involved the construction of 60 battleships.

Paul I plans were not destined to come true - in June 1798 the French occupation of Malta began the troops of Napoleon Bonaparte, who also wanted to make Malta a military outpost on the Mediterranean Sea (see.Wikipedia article - French occupation of Malta).

September 5 1800 years Malta was captured by the British.

Then Paul I broke an alliance with England and began to prepare for war with her in alliance with France. (source).

In March 1801, Paul I was killed under mysterious circumstances in the Mikhailovsky Palace in St. Petersburg (Wikipedia). The connection of the conspirators with the British was not proven, although she was suspected:"Paul's foreign policy was at odds with England's interests. England probably subsidized the conspirators".

The tread of the Maltese order was the son of Paul I -Alexander I which rules from 1801 to 1825.

Alexander I crossed his father’s policy against the Maltese order. So, he folded himself with the duties of a grandmaster, removed the coat of arms - the Order of John Jerusalem from the list of emblems of the Russian Empire. Negotiations were held on the Maltese issue between Russia, England and Napopol from November to December 1801. As a result, the countries proclaimed Neutrality of the island. In 1810, Alexander I selected their palace from the Maltese knights (source) and transferred the Office of the Order of the Order to the State Treasury (source). Thus, Alexander I turned all the anti-English plans of his father. However, in 1807-1812 the Russian-English war occurred, and in 1812-the Russian-French Patriotic War. On January 20, 1817, Alexander I forbade the nobles to wear the Order of St. John. Motivation: "The Order of Russian Priory no longer exists".

If you walk along the path along the Priorat Palace, you go up to the hill. In my opinion, an analogy is possible here - a hill in Jerusalem, where Jesus read on the slope before the assembled people [Nagorno Passing] (https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%9D%D0%B0%D0%B3%D0%BE%D1%80%D 0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%BF%D0%BE%D0%D0%D0%D0%B4%D1%8C). As you know, the Maltese Order was founded in Jerusalem in the era of the Crusades. In 1080 - and obeys the pope. The symbol of the order is also a symmetrical cross in all 4 sides. The heavenly patron of the order is the holy [John Baptist] (https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%98%D0%BE%D0%B0%D0%BD% D0%BD%D0%9A%D1%80%D0%B5%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%B5%D0%BB%D1%8C) - The closest predecessor of Jesus Christ, who predicted the coming of the Messiah.

Initially, there were two names - Filkino and Deaf.
The lake is named after a peasant named Filka, who drowned here, deciding to reduce the path in the winter on thin ice in order to bring firewood directly to the imperial palace.
