The oldest radio station in Russia continues to broadcast on VHF 69.47 MHz

29 August 2026 12:10

Radio station "St. Petersburg" (Leningrad) was launched in 1924 and is still operating.

СейI’ve been at the dacha for an hour and listen to the frequency 69.5 MHz. I found it not by automatic search, but by manual tuning on the ESP32 Si4732 receiver. The polarization of the radio station is horizontal, and the signal at a distance of 40 km from the center of St. Petersburg is weak (less than 18 dbmV), so in the vertical position of the whip antenna there is practically no reception at 69.5 MHz.

The theme of the radio station is similar to the TV channel "Culture": a digest of historical events, announcements of cultural events, carefully selected music from films of past years and the best pop songs.

The radio station presenters speak into the microphone clearly and calmly, “just like before the revolution.” The repertoire of music and the general atmosphere are a little sad.

The radio station on 69.47 MHz does not transmit its call signs, except at the end of each hour (at 55 minutes), when it calls itself “Radio Channel St. Petersburg” and the Roskomnadzor license number.

I found it by searching on the Internet group "VK" "Radio 96.47".

There is no official website for 69.47 MHz, there is a section on the Channel 5 TV website:
*Radio St. Petersburg

The popularity of "Radio St. Petersburg" is hampered by the lack of receivers for the "Soviet VHF" standard OIRT 65.9-74.0 MHz and the culture of consumption of music and text that has changed among the townspeople -"clip thinking".

Radio station "St. Petersburg" is a secular radio station, without religion, but in a strict format.

For example, now they are broadcasting a song "Vest".

Performer: Vladimir Bunchikov
Text author: Alexander Oyslander

Composer: Boris Terentyev

Eh, my front vest,
Frequent stripes on the chest,
White, like storm foam,
Blue, like the sea ahead.
The wind blows from the north or from the west,
But it barely reaches you,
Immediately goes quiet and doesn't move,
This is how you protect when you love.

Chorus:
Eh, vest,
Sailor's shirt,
You are beautiful in winter and summer.
Know, not without reason
The fire is raging
Below you is a sea soul.

I look at you and they come to life
All the battles that you went through with me.
The mark on the left is a bayonet wound,
That I couldn’t find my heart in the darkness.
The mark on the right is a bullet wound,
That it just recently healed...
Eh, my front vest,
You didn’t offend me.

Chorus.

And when we fight on land,
Far from his sea,
The new gym shorts are a little tighter,
As for the rest, really, nothing.
It’s okay that the shape is not the same,
That the ribbons don’t curl behind,
It doesn’t matter - we have a sea soul
And, as of old, a vest on the chest!

Chorus.

Tired of talking and arguing and loving tired eyes...

Then they remembered the films of director Georgy Danelia “Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears” and the dystopian youth comedy “Kin-Dza-Za”.
