Trip to Vysotsk

Previously, 10-15 years ago, we went to rest on the islands near Vyborg with the whole family, using Vysotsk as an intermediate point for transporting a boat to the Island recreation center. Now we do not go to the base, because its owner has changed. Therefore, I decided to visit the city of Vysotsk to remember how it was, just like that.

The city of Vysotsk is located on the coast of the Gulf of Finland in the bay of the city of Vyborg. It is used as Port and transshipment node of the concern "Lukoil" for the shipment of oil by tankers. A little further north is a residential area founded on the site of the town UuraS. (Finns left the house after the 1939 Winter War).

In my opinion, the city of Vysotsk over the decade has changed for the better, has become one of the cleanest and most well -groomed. All asphalt roads are repaired, flowers in flower beds are planted everywhere. The houses are also recently painted. Many children and adolescents, so the city is not going to die out, like many small settlements close to large cities (urbanization).

Also, Vysotsk became a favorite place for fishermen who go on rubber boats in the bay. Since it is located on the peninsula in the Vyborg Bay. There is both a northern beach - to the island of Maly Vysotsky and Stropysh, and the southern bay and the beach - towards Vyborg. Both beaches have a parking for cars, and the central pier has a cafe in the form of a round glazed gazebo.

Next to the main berth there is a memorial in memory of Soviet soldiers from the landing, which in 1944 was landed in Vysotsk in order to knock the Nazis from the city. The monument has such words: "In the memory of the landing of the descent on the islands of the Vyborg Gulf on July 4-6, 1944. 59 Army. 185 Rifle regiment 224 sd, 406 rifle regiment 124 sd, 622 rifle regiment 124 sd, Red-banner Baltic fleet and 13 air army. Nobody is forgotten and nothing is forgotten. 1944 - 2004". According to information from reference books, published on the World Wide Web, the town of Vysotsk was occupied by Finnish and Nazi troops on August 26, 1941, and liberated by the Red Army on June 27, 1944. For more information, see Wikipedia, Vyborg-Petrozavodskaya operation.
